Chapter 3

While writing another chapter of my “book” (I just finished chapter 3), I noticed that there are 2 types of sentences. These types include: ones that are straight forward without any descriptive words that leave you saying,  “and?” OR ones that have so much detail in them and are a mile long that you’re so confused as to what the heck you just read that you have no idea when you finish. See what I did there?  😉

I have been trying my little booty off to settle somewhere in the middle of those options. I want to engulf my readers and never leave them asking, “and?”

At first, I found it somewhat challenging to add in more detail to my sentences but then I realized how mandatory they actually are. I started reading another book (remember my overflowing box?) and noticed some of the sentences were lengthy, filled with tons of descriptive words, while others were almost too short and blunt.

Isn’t the whole point of writing to make the reader feel as if he or she is there in the action? Maybe that’s just me.

The funny thing is both types are needed to make an intriguing,  hard to set down book. It’s inevitable.

Happy Monday!
